Markets, music and movies

in Eumundi on Friday nights this summer

Eumundi Summer Nights

The Eumundi Summer Nights series will run for five consecutive Friday nights, the dates being

Friday 16 December, Friday 23 December, Friday 30 December, Friday 6 January and Friday 13 January.

Market Manager Peter Homan says Eumundi Summer Nights will be a great opportunity for locals to enjoy a relaxed night out, with market food stalls, art and craft stalls, and fabulous entertainment including live music, performances by comedic juggler Great Scott, craft workshops for kids, and free outdoor movies.

“The events in the lead-up to Christmas will be filled with festive fun, with Christmas-inspired movies; craft workshops including ‘make your own Christmas decorations’; a visit from Santa; and roving Christmas carollers,” he says.

“One man band extraordinaire Juzzie Smith will be providing his wonderful mix of upbeat tunes guaranteed to get toes tapping”

The movies are being presented in Eumundi by Flicks in the Sticks at around 6.30pm(ish).

ELF (G) – screening Friday 16 December

Buddy was a baby in an orphanage who stowed away in Santa's sack and ended up at the North Pole to be raised by elves. Later, as an adult human (played by Will Ferrell), Santa allows him to go to New York City to find his birth father, Walter Hobbs (played by James Caan). Hobbs, on Santa's naughty list for being pretty heartless, had no idea that Buddy was even born. Buddy, meanwhile, experiences the delights of New York City (and human culture) as only an elf can. When Walter's relationship with Buddy interferes with his job, he is forced to re-evaluate his priorities.

THE MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL (G) – screening Friday 23 December

A truly superb Christmas treat for old and young alike. This is the re-telling of the classic Dickens novel 'A Christmas Carol'. Michael Caine is cast superbly as miser extraordinaire Ebenezer Scrooge, held accountable for his dastardly ways during night-time visitations by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and future. The ever-fabulous Muppet characters will have you laughing, and the music is stirring – just the thing to put you in the mood for the festive season!

UP (PG) – screening Friday 30 December

By tying thousands of balloons to his home, 78-year-old Carl Fredricksen sets out to fulfill his lifelong dream to see the wilds of South America. Right after lifting off, however, he learns he isn't alone on his journey, since Russell, a wilderness explorer 70 years his junior (and trying to get an Assisting the Elderly badge), has inadvertently become a stowaway on the trip. Together, they embark on an adventure, where they encounter talking dogs, an evil villain and a rare bird named Kevin.

HAPPY FEET (G) – screening Friday 6 January

In the world of the emperor penguin, a simple song can mean the difference between a lifetime of happiness and an eternity of loneliness. When a penguin named Mumble is born without the ability to sing the romantic song that will attract his soul mate, he has to resort to some fancy footwork by tap dancing his way into the heart of the one he loves.

CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS (G) – screening Friday 13 January

The most delicious event since macaroni met cheese. Inspired by the beloved children's book, the film focuses on inventor Flint Lockwood and his latest creation – a food processor that converts water into food. He decides to test it out... but things don't go according to plan and he manages to launch it into the atmosphere. It begins to rain food in the island. A television station sends a weather reporter to cover the phenomenon and Flint becomes famous. However, the greedy and glutton Mayor Shelbourne overworks the machine and the food becomes a menace to the human race.

Eumundi Summer Nights is a community event supported by The Original Eumundi Markets, The Eumundi Historical Association, the Eumundi Chamber of Commerce and ECCO.
