MARKET CHEF RETURNS FOR 2012
Market Chef is a cooking competition that sees students from high schools and training colleges across the Sunshine Coast battle it out each week in the outdoor kitchen at Eumundi Markets.
The 2012 cook-off competitors are St Teresa’s Catholic College, Maroochydore State High School, St Andrews Anglican College, Burnside State High School, Good Shepherd Lutheran College, Unity College Caloundra, Noosa & District State High School, United Synergies Noosa, United Synergies Caloundra, and Look Now Training.
The MARKET CHEF cook-offs are a real challenge for the students each week, as they are only told the theme – not the particular dish – prior to each competition. The competition is designed to be educational and fun!
The competitions are hosted each week by Eumundi Markets Manager Peter Homan, along with local chefs keen to share their kitchen wizardry with the next generation.
All recipes cooked during MARKET CHEF incorporate fresh produce and ingredients from local growers and suppliers available at Eumundi Markets.

The competition takes place every Wednesday, with competitions at 9.15am and 10.30am, during Terms 2 and 3 in a purpose-built outdoor kitchen behind the Market Office (the pink building) in the middle of the colourful Eumundi Markets.

RESULTS 2011
Congratulations to Maroochydore State High School for winning the MARKET CHEF competition in 2011. Teammates Dylan Kelly, Michael Nugent and Daniel Harper cooked up a storm, winning the trophy, $500 in Eumundi Market vouchers and a special cooking class for their fellow hospitality schoolmates. Runners-up were the team from St Andrews Anglican College - Luca Maioli, Daniel Chambers and Jessica Smith – who put up strong challenge, and were only one point behind Maroochydore in their final score.
A big hats off also to all the wonderful young chefs from the following schools, who cooked with passion and skill each week in our outdoor kitchen at the Original Eumundi Markets: Immanuel Lutheran College; Peregian Beach College; St Theresa’s Catholic College; Burnside State High School; Maroochydore State High School (two teams – A and B); Sunshine Beach High School and St Andrews Anglican College.
